British footballer player David
Beckham who was dropped out of the Great Britain football team for the
2012 Olympics in London, weeks before the games commenced has found a source of
pride in his omission.
The veteran beamed with joy and pride as he
participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympics as part of the entourage
for lightening the Cauldron for the Opening Ceremony held in his home-town of
London on Saturday, July 27, 2012.
Beckham was spotted in a driven speedboat with
the flame on board, down the River Thames to the Olympic Stadium.
Beckham alongside Mohammed Ali
were amongst the Olympic ambassadors, a role he seems to be contended with.
According to Telegraph reports dated Tuesday July
31, 2012, Coach Stuart Pearce stated that Beckham was omitted on the basis of
age.
