British footballer player David 
Beckham who was dropped out of the Great Britain football team for the 
2012 Olympics in London, weeks before the games commenced has found a source of 
pride in his omission.
The veteran beamed with joy and pride as he 
participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympics as part of the entourage 
for lightening the Cauldron for the Opening Ceremony held in his home-town of 
London on Saturday, July 27, 2012.
Beckham was spotted in a driven speedboat with 
the flame on board, down the River Thames to the Olympic Stadium.
Beckham alongside Mohammed Ali 
were amongst the Olympic ambassadors, a role he seems to be contended with.
According to Telegraph reports dated Tuesday July 
31, 2012, Coach Stuart Pearce stated that Beckham was omitted on the basis of 
age.
